The job listing specifies that Bethesda is looking for someone who has “excellent storytelling, dialogue writing, and editing skills” and whose responsibility will be to “design and document stories and quests for future next generation products.” The studio wants someone who can effectively craft narrative structure, write dialogues, and script gameplay.
Clearly, this job is no small task, and the words “next generation products” might hint at the fact that the studio is working on something big to come to next-generation consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) perhaps this year or more likely in 2019 and beyond. Bethesda games have a history of delivering massive experiences with tons of quests, so hiring someone now likely means the work is only just beginning on this mystery game/project.
Bethesda may be needing a Quest Designer after the studio hinted at E3 2017 that it is working on a new game called Starfield, which is said to be a sci-fi RPG similar to Fallout. Fans are also speculating that Bethesda could be working on a new Elder Scrolls game following the success of Skyrim. There is also speculation surrounding a new Fallout game that may be a sequel to the best-selling Fallout: New Vegas.
Not much detail has been revealed about any of these games, though, but we can be sure to expect something big from Bethesda this year based on these types of job listings appearing and the fact Bethesda Game Studios has not announced its next project. With the addition of Skyrim to the Nintendo Switch console in 2017, it will not be surprising if Bethesda is looking into designing more games for the Nintendo Switch either.
Bethesda will be at E3 2018 on June 10th at 6:30 PM PT, so we will be sure to catch all the announcements regarding the studio’s future plans there.
