The comments by Liz Murrill follow a ruling by Washington, D.C Judge Rudolph Contreras to throw out the sale of 1.7 million acres of oil and gas leases. Louisiana was one of 13 states which had successfully challenged Biden’s executive order when he took office to pause new leases on federal land as part of his climate change policy. After the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana overturned the pause, the sale of more than $198 million worth of leases went ahead in November just days after Biden called for action on climate change at the COP26 summit in Glasgow....

Dave Aronberg, state attorney for Palm Beach County in Florida, suggested on Thursday morning that the DOJ could bring charges against Trump partly as a way to emphasize the seriousness of the case. “From a prosecutor’s perspective this is exactly like the Trump situation at Mar-a-Lago, except for just about everything,” Aronberg told CNN and compared the two situations. “There is no allegation here that Biden personally handled the documents or claimed them for himself or refused to give them back or obstructed attempts by the feds to retrieve them,” he said....

Nationally as of Saturday, Biden is ahead of Trump by just under eight percentage points, 49.8 to 41.7, according to figures from RealClearPolitics. In the race for the 270 electoral college votes needed to take the White House, Biden was narrowly ahead of Trump by 238 electoral college votes to 213, by 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday. If those results stand, the composition of the other electoral college votes makes for some interesting calculations. Wisconsin’s Democratic Party chairman Ben Wikler has expressed confidence that Biden has taken the crucial battleground state, while in Michigan he pulled ahead of President Donald Trump with votes still to be tallied up from Democratic strongholds, CNN reported....

Biden entered the White House with a 57 percent approval rating, but the final Gallup poll of the year showed that approval had fallen to 43 percent. As of December 31, a FiveThirtyEight compilation of polling data showed Biden’s average approval rating to be 43.3 percent while 51.6 percent disapproved of the job he’s doing as commander-in-chief. The nosedive is not ideal for the Democratic Party, as historical precedent is on the Republican Party’s side....

In a post on the Gaming Leaks and Rumors Reddit, a user named StarfieldLeaker claims that Starfield is having “significant development problems” because of its publisher and its developer. Game director Todd Howard is “more absent” on the game, says the leaker, as he is now having to work on several other Bethesda games. The Starfield game engine uses a “cell based loading system” and this is also causing “significant frame hiccups when trying to incorporate fast moving vehicles” such as the game’s space flight....
