Late Tuesday, Regeneron announced the company has signed an agreement with the U.S. government for the purchase of 1.4 million doses of its monoclonal antibody treatment. The next morning, Eli Lilly announced it will supply the U.S. with 388,000 doses of etesevimab to complement doses of bamlanivimab the U.S. government already purchased with the intention that the two COVID-19 treatments be taken in conjunction. Monoclonal antibodies are being administered under an Emergency Use Authorization because they’ve shown promising signs of helping prevent people with COVID-19 from needing to be hospitalized....
Iran executed journalist Ruhollah Zam, 47, who it accused of supporting mass protests against the regime in 2017. Zam had been living in exile in France until 2019, when the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps bragged of having lured him back to Iran by way of Iraq. Antony Blinken—nominated to be Biden secretary of state—and Jake Sullivan—nominated to serve as national security adviser—both condemned the killing on Twitter and vowed to hold Tehran to account for this and other abuses....
Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez detailed the campaign’s use of “sub-ethnicity modeling” in a conference call with reporters on Sunday. Trump’s has dipped to 42 percent in the latest polling, conducted November 5 to 19 among a random sample of 1,018 adults across the United States. This is down from 45 percent in Gallup’s last comparable poll conducted October 16 to 27. Looking at the partisan split in the latest results, Biden fares far better among Republicans than Trump does with Democrats. Just over one in ten Republicans have a favorable opinion of Biden, 12 percent, according to the latest polling....
The presumptive Democratic Party nominee and the Democratic National Committee raised $80.8 million in May, the Biden campaign announced last week. On Saturday, the Trump campaign said it had raised $74 million over the course of the month. May was the first month that Biden was running unopposed on the Democratic platform. Rival Sen. Bernie Sanders withdrew from the contest in April and endorsed Biden for the nomination. Biden’s total is larger than the $60 million posted by President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign in May 2012 and the $38 million raised by presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton in May 2016....
